THE TOP TEN MOST FAMOUS GHOST PHOTOS

"I do believe in spooks! I DO believe in spooks... I DO I DO I DOOO Believe in spooks..."

Yep, that goes for many of us, myself included. Of course, I have the privilege I actually having been involved in several accounts during which spirits have either shown themselves physically or, most often, audibly. I'm not going to go into detail since this list isn't about me and would likely account for far longer than ten. No, in this instance, I am showcasing the most famous images of the afterlife taken by ten completely different people over the course of possibly a hundred odd years. These pictures have been seen by everyone at one time or another, so, instead of just rehashing the old "here's what it is" captions, I figured I'd do my best to maybe point out some of the more frightening features of each and you can be the judge on their authenticity. Be prepared to be... SCARED! Bwa ha ha ha!

APPARITION SPIRIT GHOST POLTERGEIST SPOOK SHROUD

10) SPOOKY OLD WOMAN IN THE BACK SEAT!

Apparently this couple (well, not the couple featuring the hideous creature in the back, but the old guy and his wife behind the camera) were visiting the grave site of a lost relative. When the woman snapped the picture, what should appear but the very roaming spirit of said buried individual! If you somehow can't see it, look just over the grinnin' lad's shoulder and you can clearly spot a woman with either way creepy glowing eyes, or spectacles from the spirit world. Either way, pretty darn spooky.

9) SPOOK ASCENDING THE SPIRAL STAIRWAY... To Heaven?

The story goes that a guy, just curious about the layout and design of this particular staircase was snapping pictures for his 'Collection Of Particularly Cool Spiral Staircases' book when, upon development, this human figure appeared. Of course it wasn't there when the guy took the photo or else he'd surely have asked it to pose in a less creepy fashion, maybe with a nice flower or something. Do you see the urgency with which this apparition is climbing the stairs, safely using the railing, as though he had something really important to do besides be dead? CREEPY!

8) EVEN GHOSTS TRY TO BEAT THE CROWDS

See that hep cat in the background? Yeah, he's technically not there. Or alive. In fact, all of these Toys 'R' Us employees are completely unaware of his presence at all as they camp out in preparation for an early morning sale. So, is it the restless spirit of a past worker? Maybe the unfortunate ghost of some guy who died on these grounds previous to the store's arrival? Is he the long dead soul of Henry Winkler's glory days? You be the judge!

7) "OK, ON 3 EVERYONE SAY SPOOKY!"

When you're in an active branch of the military and are asked to pose for a unit photograph, it goes without saying that some of your buddies have shuffled this mortal coil in combat. So you pose, look at the camera, and get on with your day. Well, for some reason, after this one was developed, a lost member of the battalion decided to show up for picture day and hang out, slightly hidden, behind one of his buds. He looks a bit like Frank Sinatra, but unless he was doing a USO tour that day, I highly doubt it. The pic has been highlighted for you viewing convenience and to raise the chilling factor. Enjoy!

6) "HI. I'M YOUR NEW, FAR DEADER, NEIGHBOR. CAN I BORROW SOME SUGAR?"

This one's a bit like a haunted 'Where's Waldo'. Look at the lower right by the gate... BOO! Ha! Got ya! Anyway, the tragic story here (as I make light of this situation. Sorry) is this complex burnt to the ground and, as it was condemned anyway, the fire fighters just controlled it and let it burn. Later, after pictures were taken for reports, this little girl turned up. Oh sure, it could have been any girl wandering around, right? Wrong! Apparently no one was around on that day for miles, so, probably not some passerby. It's a ghost and you know it!

5) THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. AND DEAD.

Just a sorrowful lady visiting a grave stone, right? Yes, except the grave stone is, supposedly, her own. Another in the long line of random photos taken by a curious individual who just wanted an image of the cemetery for prosperity's sake. I have to say, if I'd been rifling through some newly shot pics and I ran across a pic of some creepy person where there wasn't one while the pic was being taken, I'd freak out and sell it to a horde of different web sites and magazines. Ya know, for prosperity.

4) WELCOME TO DODGE CITY! POPULATION: 400 And 1 Dead Kid

Although it looks like the boy in the middle is holding hands with the guy on the left, in reality (apparently) he's not supposed to be there. See, this boy was grounded... literally! The boy is a ghost of one of these guy's children. Back in the late 1800's, kids dropped like flies thanks in part to lack of medications and the constant drone of bullets. It sure looks like the kid wants to be there, and is perhaps attempting to hold the hand, as he did in life, of his dad, Or, he's just a creepy ghost who wants to haunt the Hell out of this town. Either way.

3) "HI, HOW YA DOIN'?"

One day, a forlorn mother was taking a picture of her tragically deceased daughter. She was sad, but, had lately remembered feeling her daughter's presence surrounding here and that made her feel much better. Once the pictures were ready, she spied the image of a little girl who could only be described as her daughter as a young child. The only problem was, her daughter died in her thirties. No one was at the grave yard that day, especially not a little girl closely resembling her own daughter. No, I have nothing funny here since this pictures scares the poop out of me. Moving on.

2) "PARDON ME, HAVE YOU SEEN THE EARPS?"

This picture was taken at Boothill Cemetery in Tombstone, Arizona. Now I am proud to say that I have been there and knew, at the time, that the place was just lousy with ghosts. I didn't see any, at least none that I know of, it's been a while since I looked at the pictures. Anyway, this guy in the front is posing all authentic like, even with the black and white film. Evidently the guy rising out of the grave in the back is wholly unaware that his picture is being taken and just goes on about his business of haunting up the joint. This is easily one of the most clearly visible ghost pics out there and could aid in proving their existence. Or it's a fraud, it's hard to tell.

1) THE WORLD FAMOUS BROWN LADY

Probably the most famous ghost picture of all time "The Brown Lady" taken in 1936 by photographers Captain Provand and Indre Shira while shooting for Country Life magazine proports to show a ghost descending a staircase at England's historic Raynham Hall, which is said to be haunted by Lady Dorothy Walpole, who once lived at the Hall. She is known as The Brown Lady due to reports of the spirit being seen wearing a brown brocade dress. She officially died of smallpox, but rumors have it that she was pushed down the stairs by her husband after learning of an affair. Now, I have seen an actual spirit that closely resembles this woman, and let me tell you, nothing on earth can prepare you, or your bowels, for something like that.

  2. That photo of Dodge City is not Dodge City. At least no where I know of in Dodge and I spent the first 21 years of my life there. Matter of fact, the whole violent wild west Dodge City thing was made up by Hollywood. It wasn't any more violent than it is today.
